YODELER TOUR
Group Start: 9:00 AM (suggested)
The Yodeler course is designed for families with young riders, recreational riders, or anyone looking to check this thing called the 'Highlander Cycle Tour' out but are not sure they want to tackle a long event. Of course, riders will still enjoy all the full suite of rider amenities, the camaraderie, the food to go with the lighter challenge. The course was redesigned this year to permit friends and relatives of the century rides to meet up and ride the last five miles together and consists of three options. The full Yodeler (Y1) is the basic 41 mile ride from last year with a northern and southern loop in the shape as a figure eight. The 41 mile ride has 2,200 ft of total vertical, with four rest stops/aid stations well stocked with drinks and quick food, and toilet facilities. New this year is a 16 mile southern loop (Y2) with 1,000 ft of vertical and a 11 mile ride (Y3) to the Scenic Overlook rest stop on Route 12 and back. All three options are designed so that family or friends, if they wish, can meet with the century riders at the Scenic Overlook rest stop and ride the last five miles together. The routes are patrolled by SAG wagons in case of mechanical problems or to pick up riders unable to continue.
Course Description
Starting from the Bristol Mt. parking lot the Y1 course goes north on NY-64, Bristol Valley Rd, for about 4.5 miles to the village of Bristol. This an easy flat section on which to warm up. From the Bristol Valley the course climbs up Co Rd 32, a climb of 300 ft in three quarters of a mile with a maximum grade of 9%. The climb is rewarded by a gentle down hill for the next four miles on Co Rd 32, followed by the rural Woolhouse Rd through typical NY farmland surrounded by wooded hills into the village of Cheshire, the first rest stop at the 12 mile point. From Cheshire the course continues on NY-21 to Deuel Rd which goes down to West Lake Rd with a spectacular view of Canandaigua Lake. This is followed by a climb up Miller Hill onto Coye Rd to Seneca Point Rd, high above Canandaigua Lake which takes you to Bristol Harbor Country Club, the next rest stop. Returning via Seneca Point and Monks Rds onto NY-21 to the village of Bristol Springs. At Bristol Springs a quick right on Torrance then north on NY-64 to Co Rd 34. Then south on West Hollow Rd, a gentle climb to the highest point on the ride, followed by smooth descent before turning onto Seman Rd. A short down hill on Rhine Street and north on Co Rd 12 which offers an unobstructed view of Canandaigua Lake. The aid station on CR-12 is located at a scenic overlook, where you can relax with a panoramic view of the lake, the Naples valley and the surrounding hills. A perfect place for a photo op. If you coordinated your timing, you can meet up with the century riders for a five mile ride back to Bristol Mountain.
The 16 mile Y2 ride starts south on NY-64 from Bristol mountain turning right on Co Rd 32, there after continuing on the same course as the southern loop of the Y1 ride above. The shortest ride, the 11 mile Y3 also starts south on NY-64 but continues south on Co Rd 12 to the overlook rest stop and then back.

The route is marked by white chevrons on the pavement. Where the course crosses the Corkscrew Century (also marked with white chevrons) it is indicated with an "Y" or "Y1-3". While the roads are well marked, you can also navigate the courses with a map or Cue sheet. Click on the items below to open and print the PDF route map and cue sheet to bring with you. We will have only a limited number of maps available at registration, so it is important that you bring your own copies.
If you have a broadband connection, you can take a virtual tour of the Yodeler ride by going to the Yodeler course on the Bike Route Toaster site, which will open a google map of the Yodeler course. Click the Summary Tab, scroll down and click on the text "View in Google Earth". This will download a "kml" file. Opening the file will launch Google Earth (provided you have installed it on your computer) with the Yodeler course loaded in "places". Just follow the Google Earth instructions on touring.
